Counter View : Delhi Gang Rape

In the light of the recent Gang Rape of a 23 year old paramedic and a violent assault on her male friend by 6 ruthless men on a public bus, a lot of views have been floating about how these men should be treated, what action must be taken and how to serve justice at the earliest. A majority are in favour of hanging the brutal insensitives, but is that really the only way to go?

The recovering brave girl, publicly named 'Nirbhaya' or The Courageous, has shown immense strength physically and mentally while being able to survive her intensive procedures and tiding over the neurotic trauma she faces. God has been kind while supplying her with that power to live and cope with all her surgeries.

However, in my opinion, I'd wish she would pass away.

Think about her life ahead from now. She will have to feed on fluids as a meagre 5% of her intestines remain. Her inability to ever have proper nutrition will force her into a malnourished and deprived state. Though her body will receive the vitals via the liquids, but for how long can one just survive on them?

Moreover, the MENtality of the Indian Man will continue to remain unconditioned and vulgar. Whenever that girl will step outside her house, what will give her the courage to ignore the ogling men and the passive thoughts running through their underdeveloped and low schools of thought? How will she face the rejection of the rude and cruel Indian society? How will Nirbhaya tide over the fact that she won't be accepted by her groom (if any man could ever accept her condition [Indian families criticize on puny details skin tone, height, caste, etc., how will any family ever welcome a bride in the state the neglected state she is in?]).

On my view of what must be done to the satanic actors, there are yet two sides to this coin.

The scarred personal side wishes to chop these devils open and hammer each body part that will be stepped on by the society.

However, the rational thinking facet will look over the anger and the disgust and will ask for a formality's sake court case that will obviously flow in favour of the distressed girl, but will serve just in a fair manner, the way all cases, no matter the graveness, must be treated.

As of the required punishment, a death penalty just means an end to all punishment possible. However, a possible chemical castration, chopping off the limbs, and being tied to a pole where the public can give them the required treatment is essential.

Yet again, my anger prevailed and I wrote that.

However, a tit-for-tat situation is not possible when it comes to national law. If the group committed an inhumane crime does not mean that the judicial system must bow down to the public demand and follow my tempered opinion. Judges must rationally follow a humane code of conduct and adhere to human rights while addressing the due for the the sick six.

External organizations must not be forced to intervene the hearing for the six and adjourn sessions to deliver the group their needed justice.

To conclude, national anger must not prevail over rational thought while delivering speedy justice to the traumatized Nirbhaya. This case should remain as rare as the possible by enforcing strict and stringent laws against crimes against the feminine strata. Inspiration must be taken from nations like Singapore and Saudi Arabia where crimes as such are minimal due to their harsh enforcement. Also, speedier courts and more judges must be roped in to check on rapes and other gruesome crimes against women because, "Justice Delayed Is Justice Denied."
